2013 NAYLE Application

Hey Arrowmen!

Are you interested in getting some of the best training to be a Chief or Officer? Then you should attend NAYLE! The National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience at Philmont Scout Ranch is one of the top leadership programs offered by the Boy Scouts of America and can give you skills to help you in your Troop, Lodge, and everyday life! If you are interested in attending, download the attached application and turn it in ASAP. Space is limited, so if you are interested in participating in this once in a lifetime experience then you better sign up today! Jamboree 2013

Have you signed up for the Jamboree staff yet? There are still spots available to attend as OA staff! Order of the Arrow staff at Jamboree get to attend at a reduced price and get to enjoy some of the Jamboree events before the event even opens! If you haven't signed up for the Jamboree yet, go to register today! You will be glad you did!

NLS 2013

Want to get some of the best Leadership Training the Boy Scouts can offer? Then you should attend NLS! National Leadership Seminar (or NLS for short) offers one of the best Leadership Training programs available to scouts, and it is made specificially for OA members! In addition, NLS isn't just your average, lecture-based training. Almost every lesson is done in an activity or discussion format, so you can learn the skills you need to succeed without being put to sleep. So if you want to get the leadership skills to be an officer in your Chapter, Lodge or even Section, NLS is the place you need to be!

2013 Double Vigil Golf Classic

DVGClogoWhat: An 18-Hole tournament focusing on fellowship in a relaxed atmosphere. The event raises money for the DVGC Legacy Fund: Supporting Our Legacy in Scouting. In our 13 year history we have provided over $13,000 in financial contributions to the Maury Clancy Indian Campership Fund and support the Endowment of the Order of the Arrow and other Scouting Scholarship funds.

Where: Ahwatukee Country Club, Phoenix, AZ

When: Friday, January 25, 2013. The tournament tees off at 1:00pm. All participants must arrive by 12:15pm for tournament registration. Lunch will be served before the event.

Who: Participation is open to anyone and you are encouraged to bring a non-scouting friend. Scouting membership is not required. All proceeds from this tournament are donated in support of Scouting Legacy Programs as administered through the Order of the Arrow. Learn more about the DVGC Legacy Fund.

Cost: For the 2013 tournament the individual registration fee is $89.00 per player - an individual registration fee includes: 18-holes of golf, cart fee, practice balls for warm-up, player gift, tournament awards, lunch and an evening dinner party.

The $89 registration only covers event operating expenses. The majority of the DVGC tournament proceeds are raised through upper level registrations, Hole Sponsorships, general donations and the sale of mulligans, paint sticks and raffle tickets. We welcome and appreciate your participation at any level, however if you are able please consider entering at a higher sponsorship level and purchasing mulligans, paint sticks or raffle tickets.

2013 OA Service Grant Recipients

Since 1999, the National OA Committee has annually selected lodges from each Region to receive matching service grants. For 2013, 20 lodges in Councils across the Nation were chosen to receive a combined total of $40,000 dollars in matching grants via the 2013 OA Service Grant program.

The following grants were awarded within the Western Region:

  • The Cascade Pacific Council (Wauna La-Mon'tay Lodge) headquartered in Portland, Oregon, will be awarded $1,259 dollars for bench replacement at the Camp Baldwin Campfire Bowl.
  • The Longs Peak Council (Kola Lodge) headquartered in Greeley, Colorado, will receive $2,474 dollars for the winterization of the Camp Jeffrey Kola Lodge building at the Ben Delatour Scout Ranch.
  • The Pikes Peak Council (Ha-Kin-Skay-A-Ki Lodge) headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will receive $1,857 dollars to develop an environmentally sustainable ATV program at Camp Alexander.
  • The Sequoia Council (Tah-Heetch Lodge) headquartered in Fresno, California, will be awarded $2,220 dollars to install prefabricated washstands at Camp Chawanakee Scout Reservation.
  • The Southern Sierra Council (Yowlumne Lodge) headquartered in Bakersfield, California, will receive $1,132 dollars to rebuild the shotgun range at Camp Kern.
  • The Yucca Council (Gila Lodge) headquartered in El Paso, Texas, will receive $2,111 dollars to replace damaged water lines at Camp Dale Resler.
